Watches … 3 simple rules

“What is time?  The Swiss manufacture it.  The French hoard it.  The Italians want it.  Americans say it is money.  The Hindus say it does not exist”  Peter Lorre, Beat The Devil

You can tell a lot about a man by what’s on his wrist.  Yes, I know that your cell phone tells time.  That’s cool but you should still wear a wrist watch, the once piece of jewelry that men can and should wear.  It says something about you.  It completes an outfit and like a tie or cuff links it is an integral part of what makes a man.  Like any other accessory in your wardrobe, you watch needs to be integrated with the rest of what you’re wearing.

  • Heading to a black tie affair?  Make sure your watch is slim and formal preferably with a black leather band.
  • When wearing a leather strap watch, match it to the color of your shoes (within reason), black with black, brown with brown etc.

  • Don’t want to be too techy or dressy?  Opt for a steel bracelet that tends to take on the personality of whatever you are wearing.  With a suit it is classic, with denim … sporty!

On the subject of time, one should never mince words …
